Cable Blanket

I just finished this ivory and white cable blanket for Marine Corps Kids. I made this using my cable blanket formula, but I modified it to include 7 cables instead of 5. I love this pattern because it is not so detailed to require a lot of counting, but it doesn't get boring. I hope one of the new moms will like it!

Yarn Donation

Many thanks to Jane and Wendy from Pearland, Texas for their donation of yarn!

They packed up a large box of baby yarn and donated it to us to be made into items for the babies. We are giving this yarn to our inmate group to transform into blankets. If you've been following this blog, you've seen the gorgeous blankets that the men have made and sent in for us! I can't wait to see what they do with all this new yarn!

Thank you so much, Jane and Wendy, for thinking of Marine Corps Kids!

Thank you, Joy

Today I received a box from Joy in California. Inside were some gorgeous crafts for the babies!!! Joy included some sweaters, booties, burp cloths and hats for the babies. The yarns and colors are so pretty, and the workmanship is wonderful!

Thank you so much, Joy! I will be bundling up more for the newborns this week, and the new moms will be delighted to receive such gorgeous gifts!

Thank you, Pauline!

Yesterday I received another baby set from Pauline in Oregon. Pauline donates often and always sends a wrapped blanket/hat set for the babies. Since they are wrapped, I don't open them to photograph, but I peeked in and could see that this is a beautiful blue set.

Thank you so much, Pauline, for your continued support and generosity!

Thank you, Karen

Karen from Wisconsin is a long time donor to Marine Corps Kids. This week she sent in two really cute blankets for the babies. These fleece blankets feature Cookie Monster and Sponge Bob! I know that these blankets will be loved by the kids and their moms.

Thank you, Karen!

Also thank you for the roll of ribbon you sent - we'll use it to bundle packages for the babies!

Thank you, Lori!

Lori from Fort Atkinson, WI is a new donor to Marine Corps Kids! She sent in some beautiful sewn items for the babies.

You can see her lovely work in the photos. She made 5 flannel blankets, 5 burp cloths and 2 adorable bibs.

Thank you so much, Lori! Your gifts are wonderful, and a great way to support our military families. The moms that receive these will be thrilled!!

More from Diane

Diane from Ohio has been a long time donor to Marine Corps Kids. I just adore the quilted balls that she sews for the babies! They are always so colorful, and are a perfect toy for tiny hands!

This week I received another box from Diane. In it were some of the wonderful balls that she sews. This time, in addition to the balls, she made some of the cutest little pillow toys for the babies. I just love them! She used the cutest fabrics and they are just adorable!!

I knew that Diane sews, but I don't think I knew that she's an accomplished knitter. She also sent in some gorgeous bibs, two poncho/hat sets and two hat/bootie sets. They are just lovely!

Diane also sent a few rolls of ribbon, which I really appreciate as well!

Thank you so much, Diane! The items that you made are wonderful, and I'm going to pack up more bundles for the babies today. I have several blankets and hats to pack, and now with your shipment, I have things to round out the packages!

The Marine Corps Family Foundation

The Marine Corps Family Foundation is the parent organization to Marine Corps Kids. It was through the financial support of MCFF that Marine Corps Kids was established, and with their continued support we are able to continue to mail our packages to the babies and families.

Please check out the Marine Corps Family Foundation website. In addition to Marine Corps Kids, they support other wonderful efforts including Operation Santa and Operation Never Forget.

Your monetary donations to Marine Corps Kids and the Marine Corps Family Foundation allow us to keep these efforts active. If you would like to send a donation you may do so online or by mailing a check to:

Marine Corps Family Foundation
4000 Lancaster Drive- Suite 57
Salem, OR 97309

If you would like your donation to be earmarked specifically for Marine Corps Kids, please note so on the check. Otherwise it will be used as needed to support all the great efforts of MCFF.

Thank you!
