Thank you Judy T!

In the last year Judy T. from Pennsylvania has continually delighted and inspired me with her beautiful donations to Operation Marine Corps Kids. Judy has sent many packages for the kids including adorable stuffed toys, cute bibs and beautiful sweaters and dresses.

This week I received another box of donations from Judy, and I think she has outdone herself! In addition to her lovely crocheted items, Judy has sent some adorable plastic canvas toys and decorative pieces.

I know that the new moms will be delighted to receive these gifts!

Hats from Georgia

Many thanks to the wonderful ladies in Georgia who donated these darling caps for the kids!!!

I was just delighted to receive a box from my friend Marlene! It containing thirty-three adorable baby hats and a few pairs of booties and mitts that were made by the members of a church group in Georgia.

April is the Month of the Military Child, and I'm so thrilled to be able to send these lovely gifts along with our other recent donations to the families of our service men and women.

Many thanks to Judy and Glee from Kansas, and co-worker Patsy and her daughter Lisa from MO who worked together to send these adorable booties, wash-clothes and blanket for the babies!!

Judy read about Marine Corps Kids and told her co-workers about it, and these wonderful women have worked together to send so many beautiful things.

It's so heart-warming to me to see how a project like this can not only help the babies, but can also bring friends and co-workers together in such a great way.

Month of the Military Child

April is Month of the Military Child

"In 1986, Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger designated April as Month of the Military Child, a time when each branch of the military service recognizes the sacrifices made by the children of parents who are serving our country."

I can't imagine how difficult it must be for kids who have a parent away serving our country. On top of worrying about whether mom or dad will be okay, these kids sacrifice so much. The serving parent isn't around to share birthdays, holidays, and all the everyday accomplishments.

While we thank our military personnel for their service, we mustn't forget their families who sacrifice for our safety and security.

I am writing to ask all of our crafters to remember the kids, and to send a donation for a child or baby during the month of April. Everything that we receive will be sent to a baby or child with a deployed parent.

Please take this opportunity to let these kids know that we appreciate them and their parents!

Quick and Cute

Making a gift for Marine Corps Kids doesn't have to involve a large investment of time or money. I made these bibs using this pattern from Bernat.

These bibs work up really quickly, so I can make them when I don't have time for more involved projects. They use less than a ball of cotton yarn and a simple button closure.

I embellished these with happy face buttons and embroidered smilie faces on them. Their quick and cute and an easy way to say "Thank you" to our Military families.

Today I received a package from Judy and Glee from Kansas. Inside where ten pairs of absolutely adorable booties, and a beautiful striped blanket.

With all the news about the elections, we're not hearing that much lately about the war and all our troops overseas. Our men and women are still there fighting hard for our country, and their families need our continued support.

Ladies, thank you both for thinking of the mom's and new babies, and for helping to spread the word about what we're doing to your friends who craft. It means so much!
