WOW!!!!
When my husband got home from work today, he called me to ask is I was expecting anything.
Me: "No"
Husband: "Well then you're going to be thrilled when you see all the Marine Corps Kids boxes on the front porch!"
My husband knows me so well! After a long hard day it work, it was amazing to see all these boxes filled with gifts for the babies!
I probably will not have the time to open all of these and photograph everything until later this week, but I wanted to say thank you to all the amazing donors who sent so many gifts!
I'll post pictures and thank yous for all these gifts as soon as I can!

Thank you, Karen
Karen from Wisconsin sewed 13 darling blankets for the babies! Just love the cute fabric designs that she used!
In addition to the blankets, Karen sent in 6 rolls of ribbon. Most of these blankets have already been bundled up for the babies using the ribbon that was sent.
Thank you, Karen, for your continued support!
Thank you, Lori

Hooks, Yarns, and Bars
If you read the Marine Corps Kids blog, or follow us on Facebook, you know that we have received many wonderful donations for the kids from a group of prison inmates in Oregon. These men have amazing talent, and are very generous in sharing their work with Marine Corps Kids and other charity groups.
You can read more about them on their website: Hooks, Yarns and Bars.
Many thanks to all the men in this crocheting group who have donated so many wonderful gifts for the babies!

Ruffles
This is a little ruffled hat that I knit for Marine Corps Kids. I've made a few similar hats before for my great-nieces, but I modified the pattern slightly for this one. I think it's rather cute.
Many thanks to my friend Sue who gave me 3 skeins of the pink Ruffelina yarn! I'm sure I'll be making several more similar hats to donate!

Another box from Ruth
A large box arrived yesterday from Ruth in Seattle.
Ruth is a great supporter of Marine Corps Kids, and you can see her love and dedication in the beautiful gifts that she shares!
I love these hats. The fleece hats in the back of the first photo are so soft and warm, and the fabrics are colorful and delightful. The knit hats are gorgeous and use some really cute yarns! There are very sweet hats for the girls, and some amazing hats for the boys. Love them.
Finally, Ruth sewed a whole stack of darling receiving blankets. These are two sided blankets, and Ruth mixed and matched fabrics beautifully! Most of these have matching burp cloths for really cute sets!
Thank you so much, Ruth, for all you do for Marine Corps Kids!

A Thank you
"Dear Marine Corps Kids,
We wanted to thank you for the beautiful blanket with the hat/bootie set, and the hand-made ball. Thank you for making such lovely items. They were especially dear to me because my mom is not here to make them for my little sweetheart, Eden.
Thank you,
Calel and Tammy"

On the Radio!
Yesterday, long time MCK donor Karen was listening to a radio program on Wisconsin Public Radio about knitting. During the program, Karen called into the radio station and talked about Marine Corps Kids! She talked about what we do in terms of charitable crafting and also mentioned our very talented group of male inmates who knit and crochet for Marine Corps Kids.
I searched the web, and was able to find a link to the radio program online. Our crafters might enjoy hearing this story, and about 3/4 of the way through you can hear Karen call in and talk about Marine Corps Kids!
Thank you so much, Karen! It was exciting listening to you on the program. Who knows how many people just learned about Marine Corps Kids and what we do because of you!
