Beautiful Donations

I am always delighted to receive new donations for Marine Corps Kids. So many people are generous and talented, and we at MCK are lucky to be on the receiving end of their generosity.

Today I received some donations from an unexpected source. These gorgeous blankets, hats and booties were made by prison inmates. These men are really excited to be supporting our troops, and are making some really gorgeous things for the babies! The workmanship on these pieces is really fabulous!

I don't know where or when these men learned to crochet and knit, but I do know that I wish my own work was as lovely as theirs!

Thank you to all the men who made these lovely gifts! They are very much appreciated!

Thank you, Molly

Molly from Oregon is a new donor to Marine Corps Kids. She totally blew me away with her incredible generosity! Molly sent in TWENTY-NINE soft and cuddly blankets for the babies!!!!

This is a terrible photo and does not do justice to the beauty of these blankets - they are lovely!

Thank you so much, Molly! There blankets will be cherished by the families that receive them!

We need your ribbon

We always appreciate all of the craft and monetary donations that we receive. It's because of the generosity of our donors that we are able to reach so many military families with our gifts.

People sometimes ask me if there are other ways that they can donate. One "supply" that I can always use is fabric ribbon.

When I pack the gifts for the new babies, I try to create bundles that include gifts from several donors. Each bundle is unique depending on what our donors have sent in. One might include a blanket, sweater, hats and booties. Another might have a blanket, toy, bib and hat. The gifts are than folded up into a bundle and wrapped with ribbon like you see in the photo.

If you have some fabric baby motif (pink/blue) ribbon that you do not need (or if you see a bargain at your local craft store and would like to help a good cause) please send the ribbon to Marine Corps Kids. We'll put it to good use for a worthy cause!

As always, craft and ribbon donations can be sent to:

Marine Corps Kids
4524 E Beardsley Drive
Bloomington, IN 47401

Monetary gifts can be made online at the Marine Corp Family Foundation Site or mailed to:

Marine Corps Family Foundation
4000 Lancaster Drive NE Suite 57
Salem, OR 97309
(please make your check out to Marine Corps Family Foundation, and note in the memo that the donation is earmarked for Marine Corps Kids).

Thank you!

Thank you, Patricia!

These beautiful baby items were made by Patricia from Port St Lucie, Florida. As you can see in the photos, Patricia sent in a sweet baby "cocoon", two wonderful star afghans, and some adorable ponchos and hats.

Thank you, Patricia, for your continued support of Marine Corps Kids. These gifts will be on there way to newborn babies very soon!

Thank you, Joy!

My apologies to Joy from Riverbank, California for not posting these pictures sooner! These gorgeous donations were received two weeks ago, but I didn't have the opportunity to photograph and post them until now.

As you can see in the photos, Joy made a lovely hooded sweater, some soft burp clothes, and many great hats and booties! The workmanship is beautiful!

I will be packing up many bundles for the babies this week, and I know that the new moms who receive these will be absolutely delighted.

Thank you so much, Joy, for your generosity!
